New Board Member: Tyler Baier

September 20, 2013  |  Los Angeles, CA – Beat the Streets – Los Angeles is pleased to announce today the election of Tyler Baier, Director of Strategy and New School Development for Bright Star Schools, to the Board of Directors.

Bright Star Schools, a Charter Management Organization, operates tuition-free public charter schools in Los Angeles primarily serving the mid-city communities of West Adams and Korea Town, and the Panorama City neighborhood of the San Fernando Valley. Tyler came to Bright Star Schools in 2010 following an Education Pioneers fellowship that partnered him with ICEF Public Schools in Los Angeles. In addition to his current role with Bright Star Schools, Tyler was the driving force in the founding of three Beat the Streets middle school programs within Bright Star Schools.
Tyler’s additional experience as a consultant for the Positive Coaching Alliance, a wrestling coach at Cornell University, and a marketing consultant for a Chicago based start-up grant him a wealth of insight and knowledge, further enhancing BTSLA’s leadership and programs.
A decorated Cornell University wrestler from 2000-05, Tyler earned All-Ivy League honors three years, capping his senior season with an EIWA title and Runner-Up finish at the NCAA Division I Championships. He received his bachelors degree from Cornell’s Dyson School of Applied Economics and Management and completed his MBA from Cornell’s Johnson School in 2010.
