April 2, 2013 | We are enthused to announce, in partnership with the education organization Bright Star Schools, the launch of two new wrestling programs.
The programs will be hosted at Stella Middle Charter Academy’s 7th – 8th Grade Campus and at Valor Academy. In following the model we have applied to all of our programs, the opportunity will be offered to the students free of charge. In collaboration with Bright Star, After-School All-Stars will serve as a steward to the programs at these two campuses.
This endeavor with Bright Star Schools marks the third program in the partnership. The first program, Stella Middle Charter Academy for 5th & 6th Grades, was launched last September and has been greatly received by the organization’s leadership. Tyler Baier, Bright Star’s Director of Strategy and New School Development said “I’m thrilled with the success that Beat the Streets – LA program has had at our school thus far, and look forward to seeing the growing impact that it will have on our students – both inside and outside of the classroom – as we add programs at more schools and students have participated in wrestling for multiple years in a row.”
For Stella Middle Charter Academy 7th – 8th, practices will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays after school. The campus is located at 5431 West 98th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90045. The official launch date is Monday, April 8th.
For Valor Academy, practices will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school. The campus is located at 8755 Woodman Avenue, Arleta, CA 91331. The official launch date is Tuesday, April 16th.
“At Bright Star we’re attempting to prepare the youth of our communities for college and life, and I see the Beat the Streets program as a great compliment to our academic model and school culture.” said Mr. Baier.
