Super Sunday for BTSLA at Winter Jamboree

Posted: February 9, 2017

February 9, 2017 | February 5th was a super Sunday for the 38 girls and 93 boys from the 20 BTSLA programs that competed in the Winter Jamboree held at Canoga Park High School.
The Jamboree provided a critical opportunity for BTSLA wrestlers to test their skills as they prepare for the upcoming 2017 BTSLA Championships on February 26th at Roybal Learning Center. Parents and fans packed the stands to cheer on their wrestlers from start to finish and medals were awarded to the top 3 finishers in each weight class.
Special thanks to Canoga Park HS Principal Robert Garcia for all his support, After-School All-Stars for helping provide transportation to and from the event, and to the Cadets of the LAPD Topanga Division for setting up, keeping score at each mat, and cleaning up the gym afterwards. Also, the volunteer services of Rise Kohyang High School wrestlers were critical the ensure the event ran smoothly.
The Winter Jamboree was made possible thanks to the vision of Captain Maureen Ryan and Captain Paul Vernon of the LAPD Topanga Division and their commitment to youth wrestling. Thank you Sergeant Christopher Edwards, Officers Juan Estrada, Greg Archambault, and Johanna Lopez, and Senior Lead Officers Duc Dao, Kari McNamee, Jose Moreno, Jennifer Poepke, Brent Rygh of the Topanga Division Community Relations Office and Topanga PAL Youth Programs for all the countless hours you put in to give this opportunity to BTSLA student-athletes.
Next up, the BTSLA Championships!
