Angel Martinez – Male Athlete of the Month, February

Angel Martinez, DTLA Academy
This is Angel’s first year wrestling at the DTLA Academy. He turned to sports as a hobby to become more healthy and fit. Angel hopes to become a Software Engineer and study at Harvard University. To get ready for college, he will continue taking AP classes during the summer at Rise Kohyang High School, where he is a freshman. He grew up with computers and loves helping his family and friends with tech support. His favorite school subjects are art and math. He loves being tested in math because it challenges him to reach his full potential. Angel loves to have fun at practice but takes competition seriously. His favorite wrestling move is the Fireman’s Carry. As a hobby, Angel enjoys boxing and sparring with his friends. He enjoys relaxing to alternative rock and his favorite band is Twenty-One Pilots. This summer he plans to give back to his community by helping the Koreatown Youth & Community Center plant trees.
