Coaches Education Series Brings Opportunities to Coaches
Posted: October 9, 2014
October 9, 2014 | Sprawled across the mats on a recent Saturday morning in the San Fernando High School wrestling room, the more than 20 coaches were in attendance for BTSLA’s Level 1 Coaches Education Series event, the first in a series of planned educational opportunities for area coaches during the 2014 – 2015 Season.
Led by BTSLA Coaches Education Coordinator Valentin Kalika, the course is designed to give coaches a framework for implementing youth development initiatives through their daily wrestling instruction. The hands-on training saw coaches go through a typical youth wrestling practice while implementing the carefully and uniquely designed curriculum.
“As coaches we have an obligation to provide our athletes with the highest quality of information and training opportunities. The hands-on delivery of this program is unlike any other coaches education opportunities that I have seen.” said Program Director Kevin Lake.
BTSLA’s Coaches Education Series events provide necessary tools for coaches to develop comprehensive sport knowledge, become elite communicators, utilize positive coaching techniques, and engineer an environment that encourages the character building values of youth sport.
BTSLA has Coaches Education Series events planned for December, January, March & April for the 2014 – 2015 season.
