November 7, 2013  |  Beat the Streets – LA (BTSLA) announced today, in partnership with the City of South El Monte , a new youth wrestling program for boys and girls. Through this unique partnership, the City of South El Monte has allocated funding to be used in support of the new program, the first city to do so with BTSLA.
Set to begin Tuesday, November 12th, the program will take place at South El Monte High School and will be provided to residents free of charge. “The City of South El Monte is an innovator in providing recreational opportunities for our young children. Our goal is to endow opportunities that lead to the social development of our students to become strong leaders in our community,” said City of South El Monte Council Member Hector Delgado.
With a rich tradition of youth wrestling, the San Gabriel Valley has produced many outstanding wrestlers. This new program continues to build upon that history and with a focus on youth development, will work to produce champions both on the mat and in the community.
