Saturday, January 25th saw BTSLA Executive Staff Members Yero Washington and Marcie Van Dusen, Board Member Tyler Baier and BTSLA supporters Mark Lane, Alexis Villareal and Jim Przybylowicz tackle the SoCal Spartan Sprint in Temecula, CA put on by Spartan Race.
The grueling obstacle coarse race and the groups participation served as a unique and fun way to show support for BTSLA programs. Organized as a fundraiser and to raise awareness of BTSLA’s mission, the group showed their tenacity by finishing the day as the 2nd highest ranked team. With over $3,800 raised in support of BTSLA programs, the event was deemed a great success despite falling short of the $10,000 goal.
Spartan Race is designed to test the participants resilience, strength, stamina, decision making, and ability to overcome adversity. The teams success is in no small part attributed to their experiences in wrestling and serves as a great reminder of the impact BTSLA programs can have on Los Angeles youth.
