Summer Fun at Beat the Streets Los Angeles

Posted: September 3, 2019

This summer, Beat the Streets Los Angeles provided 129 summer camp scholarships to the girls and boys in our programs.

The summer camps kicked off with two weeks of Futures Camp, where Beat the Streets LA coaches and staff took 29 boys and 28 girls to the beautiful San Bernardino mountains for four days of wrestling, outdoor activities, and character building exercises at the Arrowhead Ranch Outdoor Science School.

Futures Camp for the boys featured World Champion, Olympic Bronze Medalist, and 3x NCAA Champion J’Den Cox.

Futures Camp for the girls featured World Bronze Medalist and 3x World Team Member Tamyra Mensah-Stock.

A few weeks later, Beat the Streets LA welcomed 39 boys and girls to the Summer Academy. Each day of this four day camp was highlighted by a different field trip – The California Science Center, Nickelodeon Studios, The Broad Museum, and the Echo Park Deep Pool – and plenty of wrestling.

Once again, Beat the Streets LA provided our youth with the opportunity to attend outside wrestling camps. We provided 10 scholarships to Marcie Van Dusen’s MVD Wrestling Camp, 11 scholarships to Mark Muñoz’ West Coast Wrestler camp, and 12 scholarships to the Tribe Wrestling Camp featuring Nick Suriano.

By providing summer camp scholarships to our athletes, our girls and boys continue to increase their mastery of wrestling skills and have experiences that help build them into tomorrow’s leaders.

Congratulations to all our athletes who received a summer camp scholarship!
