Tomorrow’s Leaders Season Kicks Off with Tom Hazell and Mark Munoz
Posted: September 25, 2024
On Sunday, September 22nd, Beat the Streets LA hosted the first Tomorrow’s Leaders workshop and training session of the season! Downtown Academy was buzzing with 80 of our brightest student-athletes, eager to learn and grow.
The day began with a workshop led by one of our founding board members, Tom Hazell. Tom shared his insights and career experiences as a wrestling official, offering a comprehensive presentation on how to become a referee. He guided the students through the steps to get involved in officiating and discussed the importance of giving back to the sport.
Following the officiating workshop, it was time for the Tomorrow’s Leaders to hit the mat! Leading the wrestling session was none other than NCAA Division I Champion and former UFC fighter Mark Munoz. Mark focused on technical training, specifically honing in on Low Ankle positions. To conclude the day, students participated in mock matches, applying their newly acquired officiating skills in real-time scenarios.
This workshop truly embodied the mission of the Tomorrow’s Leaders program, which aims to equip student-athletes with essential skills for their post-high school journey. For the 2024-25 season, we are offering a record number of workshops—10 in total—designed to nurture leadership, college readiness, and career preparation.
A huge thank you to Tom Hazell and Mark Munoz for their time, expertise, and commitment to our Tomorrow’s Leaders program. Congratulations to all participants for their hard work and dedication!
