July 8, 2013  |  We are pleased to announce The LA84 Foundation has selected Beat the Streets Los Angeles, Inc. as one of their 2013 grant recipients.  The award, in the amount of $33,475 was granted for the purchase of equipment, wrestling shoes and to pay membership fees for our youth wrestling programs.
BTSLA is extremely grateful for the support The LA84 Foundation has shown to our organization, as well as the support they’ve demonstrated to numerous other organizations in the Southern California area since it began operations in 1985.
“This grant from LA84 allows Beat The Streets – Los Angeles to expand our positive impact through sport on the lives of Los Angeles teenagers.  All of us feel a great reward with every wrestling program we start and every youth we help. We are thrilled with this grant and thankful to LA84.” – Andrew F. Barth, President of BTSLA.
The LA84 Foundation is endowed with surplus funds from the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games. Their mission is to serve youth through sport and to increase knowledge of sport and its impact on people’s lives. The LA84 Foundation supports a wide array of youth sports programming.  They award grants to youth sports organizations within the eight southernmost counties of California.  They also conduct youth sports and coaching education programs, a number of which have become models for similar programs nationwide.  The foundation is the legacy of the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
