Summer Enrichment Fundraiser Recap

Posted: January 19, 2024

On Sunday, January 7, 2024, Beat the Streets Los Angeles successfully hosted its annual fundraiser at Mt. San Antonio College, dedicated to supporting our Summer Enrichment Program.

The success of this event will enable us to provide enriching opportunities for our student-athletes. These opportunities include Summer Camp Scholarships, our Tomorrow’s Leaders Program, and the National Camp and Duals Summit scheduled for Boston, Massachusetts.

National Camp and Duals Summit:
For the past two years, Beat the Streets LA has selected approximately 35 deserving student-athletes to attend the National Camp and Duals Summit. This experience includes wrestling training, career workshops, civic engagement, and friendly competitions with other Beat the Streets Organizations. Last year, participants had the privilege of visiting and touring the University of Chicago.

Tomorrow’s Leader Program:
This annual program is designed to equip student-athletes with essential skills for their post-high school journey. Our workshops focus on nurturing leadership skills, offering valuable guidance for college readiness, and preparing for future careers.

Summer Camp Scholarship Program:
In the summer of 2023, we provided scholarships and transportation for 24 individuals to attend the Cal Poly Summer Wrestling Camp. Over the past 12 years, we have awarded over 800 fully funded summer camp scholarships.

The Summer Enrichment Fundraiser was held in collaboration with Mt. San Antonio College and Cal Baptist University. The fundraising lunch was followed by a Division 1 College wrestling match between Cal Baptist University and Iowa State University, featuring Exhibition Matches with Beat the Streets LA Youth & Freestyle Senior Level Wrestlers.

For the youth matches, student-athletes from our El Monte Program and Antelope Valley Program participated.

Youth Matches:
Chloe Martinez vs. Julianna Martinez
Sophia Olvera vs. Gianna Ballante
In the Senior matches, athletes from Titan Mercury Wrestling Club and New York Athletic Club showcased their skills. Adeline Gray, a Six-Time World Champion and Two-Time Olympian, made a special appearance.

Senior Freestyle Matches:
Kaylynn Albrecht vs. Alexandra Glaude
